Tbh I wouldn't bother. They might sound better but that's about it IMO.

I've never put one on a none turbo car .. It must increase air flow thus giving more bhp ?

About 2-5 bhp I reckon.

A panel filter in a De restricted air box is always better

Pretty much a waste of time if your looking for more HP. The extra air sucked in is pretty much cancelled out by the extra heat your sucking in. youll get placebo hp cos youll end up planting your foot everywhere cos it sounds nice.

You might gain/loose 0.01hp but will definatly sound better if you have a c16se. Its totaly pointles on an e16se.

any decent make will do eg pipercross, K&N ect. you dont have to spend a fortune on some fancy ram air, ducted ,+20hp rubbish.

Lol you are cute.

Airbox mods with a paper filter from halfords/motorfactors. Prolong engine life and adds sound.
Aso costs shag all

I'd never fit a k&n/piper cross etc to a car I care about.

Not worth the money, it might make the car sound a little bit better, but that should be bottom of the list of priorities. Save the money towards something more useful.

all novas should be left standard.

The drilled airbox and K&N panel filter on my old 1.6 sounded amazing, easily 20bhp gain.

Paper element and get the Black and Decker out.

Don't need a dyno, I am at one with my vehicle and KNOW it gained 20bhp as due to the noise.

I thought it was stickers that gained power?
So, from your findings, and my knowledge, a K&N sticker, alongside an induction kit, would be worth 40-50 bhp.

Still, nothing is free. You're talking about 7 quid for a generic cone filter, and another 2 quid for the sticker.

Stickers makes a lot of sense actually, that explains why rally cars are so fast.

And also why f1 cars are that much faster.

Top Secret.

Equals 1000 bhp. Redeemable in any Speedhunters article.

But remember all that power is useless unless you have good aerodynamics. So best to fold the back seats down lol

mowgli
31-07-13, 08:39 PM
no, the seats down thing is to lower the centre of gravity & improve traction.

the best aero mod is the cap on backwards

Gents .. sorry i have to say gents and not team so i dont offend the PNG Troll .. all other forums are pointing to an induction kit with cold air feed would help and incress bhp ... every jap car i have owned has benefited from increased induction.

If you sectioned off your cone filter so that it didn't absorb as much engine heat that may help.

Std air boxes have cold air feeds. What style air box were they referring to and how many brakes did they hope to gain?

BHP not mentioned ... Thinking about a Viper

Stuart

Fit one by all means, just don't expect it to do anything other than increase noise and wear the engine out faster.

As for jap cars responding well. I would imagine they have very restrictive intake systems if a simple filter can add powwwaaahhh
