Hey guys, just bought a 3dr hatch to replace my rather rotton 106 daily driver pug.

I plan to drop a DISpak C20XE in it but I seem to remember from my first XE Nova (back in 2001!) that the steering was very heavy. The obvious choice is a corsa-b epas conversion but many complain about loss of steering feedback, is it really that bad?

But what about using a corsa-b hydraulic rack and pump?? Is there enough room for the rack (fouling the XE's inlet manifold) and the pump fouling.... everything?!?

Id use epas hooked up to the speed sensor, shouldn't lose tomuch feeling that way.

I sure a man of your talent could sort something out! I've seen the saxo pump used before though

Cheers Mazz now you mention it I remember a rally nova running a saxo pump.

I suppose I am more bothered about the loss of feedback from epas as I already have a corsa-b epas rack in the garage and i've been looking at a Corsa-D epas column as they are mega compact!

if its any use, i'm soon to break a corsa b with a hydraulic power steering setup, the rack doesn't look very much bigger than the nova one.

Surely if the Corsa B track is so much wider this would result in some serious toe-in when fitted on a nova? Is there enough adjustment to get decent toe on the nova? Or can you get away with fitting nova TCA's?

the racks are the same length, you just swap the track rods over.

I've seen Corsa B XE conversions running saxo pump so cant see why it cam't be done in a nova, and like mentioned just use the nova track rods.

MK4 Astras also have leccy pump

don't xe's have a power steering pump as std on cav & cally's??

Yes but I'm pretty sure it doesnt fit in a Nova. I assume you are running a quick rack...

On a xe corsa you can keep the corsa power steering pump and buy the mount ,

Can't see it being that hard to run the line and use the corsa rack with nova rods ?

I like my EPAS on a Nova, it's very light as it's running off a controller but I get enough feedback to do what I need to do.

I think you can fit the C EPAS column fairly easily (from a wiring perspective, anyway) too which is supposed to be more robust than the B column.

Cheers Iain, i think the corsa c column is too long?

Apologies it is apparently longer than the B column, I know someone who fitted one to a mk2 Astra.

It has been done, but the B column is a far more popular conversion so info is far more common

I think the corsa b column is a better option for me as I want to straight up the column too, it's always bugged me the column on a Nova being at an angle
