Hi,

I recently took out my E16SE to replace bottom end, did all jobs needed, cleaned gearbox and put back together, after putting engine back into the car, I cant seem to get the clutch to work, previously the adjuster screw on the cable was about half way, now its at the last turn of adjustment and the pedal still not sitting right and cannot engage any gears when car is started, can engage when engine switched off, any ideas what ive done wrong please...

Cheers
its an f13 gearbox

itd not adjusted properly.as a rule of thumb the clutch pedal should always be level or slightly higher than the brake pedal

as above, adjust your clutch cable.

Cheers for reply but as stated its already adjusted as far as it will go, could the cable have stretched, or is there something ive done wrong putting gearbox back on..

try adjusting the cable off and see what you get.

Yes Bearing is sitting fine, and already tried adjusting off and the pedal goes to the floor

can you do the lever with a pry bar manually?

this is quite simple.

either the cable is stretched (unlikely)/badly adjusted

or

you have somehow disturbed the thrust bearing

or

the cable has somehow moved on the pedal or is not seated properly on the bulkhead.

or

a wildcard would be the cotter pin on the release arm has sheared and moved

Seen it before, it dose happen did you put the thrust bearing back in ?
