White sr on fleabay for just under 2k at a garage. Has anyone looked at it. It has been on for a month or so. Just wondering if its a sh*tter? lol

Looks a genuine car to me, and worth the money. Local reg too and everything backs up what it claims to be.

There is a mistral grey on there too (not mine!) and I would suggest its far over priced for what it is.

There's only one thing that's not correct that could mean a quick cover over of rust, it shouldn't have the pin stripe on it...

Other than that it looks good

Could be an 80s modification by a proud elderly owner! (mine has one too and sadly if I removed it I doubt any amount of mopping would remove the shadow it would inevitably leave)

Possibly the bad advert slowing the sale....does like nice but no bay pics make me think its it as clean there.

Or worst case scenario, it's a ski/merit etc re she'll??

Could be as you say, just seems odd to me..

It is only down the road from me if you want me to take a look.

Did anyone see the D plate blue SR, sold yesterday for £560 but imo it's going to be rotten as hell from what pics there were, it would need re shelling.

The purchaser has put on vauxhall mudflaps as an optional extra and I have seen the exact same pinstrips on other Mk1 Srs so I would say it's worth a look, probably genuine, everything looks really good.

Seen the car - rough interior (drivers seat bolster wear), shell was well past reasonable repair (rotten inner wings/turrets/rear chassis legs/all panels) and engine not run for many years.

Strangely enough a white Antibes from the same seller made better money - seen that too and I have never seen such a rotten shell - even the A pillar had rotted out where the door hinges mount!! I bet that gets relisted as for £600 there is only the kent cam and the bronze top tint, and blue carpet worth anything in my opinion!

The white one has been for sale on ebay previously at £2495
I like the idea that the pinstripe is putting off buyers
I may be that the mileage is the reason for not selling ?? as there have been several identical lower mileage cars gone for much less

Why would a pinstripe put off a buyer?!

At the end of the day, low mileage may be preferable but as stated further up the thread it doesn't guarantee perfect condition. I would pay more for a decent car with higher mileage than pay a premium for a rotten low mileage car.

Any Nova's in my family that where bought brand new always had a pin stripe on them when they collected them. Just something the dealers done along with mudflaps and floor mats..

That's really weird, see I was under the impression that on Sr models especially early ones they had no pinstripes..

Like this.

But if not, I'm less bothered about making an Sr rep lol

I think the pinstripe was a dealer applied extra, they are not shown in the brochure that I can see.

scott.parker

Well that it, see once it was mentioned in here we've established that SR's did come with a pinstripe, just I had never seen one in real life before lol

TBH the pinstripe does look retro. The sr might be worth a look to someone that is looking for one. But as said the seller needs better pics to show the potential buyer how good or bad the car is.
