View Full Version : Getting a v5 help?
Hello peeps
My mate is abut worried about his car,cut long story short,he bought a car about 6 years ago bloke said he sent the log book off,so he forgot about it the other day,he can't remember who he bought it off,he has heard you get a fine now,was wondering how he goes about it
Car has been in his lockup since
Phone the dvla and ask for one! ;)
Phone the dvla and ask for one! ;)
Will tell him to ring them, but will they fine him for not having the logbook for all them years tho
The only people who supply the logbook is the DVLA so at some point it will have to go to them. He'll just have to explain the situation on the phone and see what happens!

How has he sorned it without a logbook?
Could be a fine there if you apply for a logbook and try to backdate it.
Apply for a new v5 with a v62 form
Say you have just bought it from a random name and a made up address. lol

When he bought the car it was already sorn
When he bought the car it was already sorn
Means nowt.
The current SORN is worthless once the car changes hands. Although I guess technically it never, so maybe he got the fines?
I would claim to have just recently bought it, were it me.

Apply for a new one using a v62 form mate

When a car is sold it has to be 're sorn' plus it only lasts a year and you have to keep re-doing it.
But the fine will go go the previous keeper, it is their legal responsibility to notify dvla of change of ownership!
