Hi I was sizing up a set of rims I have lying around for my nova let. Somehow i've managed to knock the spring that makes the bore size smaller out and I can't for the life of me get it back in lol. Anyone had this problem before or have any idea how to get them back in? I've never even seen this method or bolt fitment used before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

That looks like a helicoil. So I would guess at some point in the past someone has stripped the thread and had it repaired. You wont get it back in without the correct tool, personally I would be looking at replacing the hub. Helicoil's are all very well on non stressed bolts but when its holding a wheel on ...........

Yeah just done bit of research and it does appear to be helicoil, strange as it seems all 4 bolt holes have them in, dunno what that's all about. Don't suppose you know if that's a standard nova hub or is it a Astra gte one? Sorry to sound like a noob lol but this is my first vauxhall.

Also does anyone know the thread size of the standard wheel bolts?

Just get a new hub. You need a machined down Astra gte, gsi or cavalier gsi etc hub.The thread size is 12x1.5

I'm sure I've heard of people using helicoils on headbolts, why wouldn't a helicoil be OK on a wheel bolt thread?

If a helicoil fails in the head you'd be quite annoyed with the head gasket going... If it went in a hub, you would be very annoyed to be heading off the m4 at 80 mph with one brake! Lol
