Really quick and almost obvious question here, but....
When i built my nova and wired it in, i connected all the required wires for it, but ive never had an ecu light, not really been bothered by this as most things the do/can go wrong with that engine are pretty easily diagnosable.
Ive just fitted a new set of clocks as mine were a bit odd and everything over-read slightly.
Checked all bulbs were good before i fitted them and tested them and they seem fine, fitted clocks and clipped them (barsteward of a job in a mk1) back in and flicked on the ignition to re-test them, battery and handbrake lights came on as they should, battery and fuel gauges rose correctly and didnt over-read, then when i touched the immobiliser chip to the sensor/port to turn the immobiliser off, the choke light came on, its never done that before as i never put a bulb in the other set of clocks!
Once fired up the light goes out and stays out, now does that mean thats my ecu light and the only reason i never had one is because it didnt have a bulb in it?
Im fairly sure when Joff fitted my immobiliser, one of the cut-offs was the power to the ecu, so for the light to stay off till the immobiliser is deactivated makes sense as the ecu isnt powered untill thats deactivated!
Im pretty sure this is correct, im just wanting a second opinion really :d
