are all the ' old classic type ' (nova, corsa, astra, cav) 236mm brake caliper carriers the same ?

or are the solid disc and vented disc carriers different, or are they all completely different from each other ?

any brake connoisseur's that might know this one ?

thanks :thumb:

As in delco style calipers?

If so it was the caliper that was different for vented and solid iirc

is delco that generation type ? 1981-ish or earlier to about 99/2000 ? ... I need to scratch up on my knowledge, im useless.

I have some 98 ? ( I think ) corsa sport calipers that I need carriers for. im wondering what my options are, to get them to fit.

they are 20 mm vented type. isn't the nova gte the same ? obviously different calipers tho

Delco was the type that used 2 pins in through the brake pad, used on early Novas untill phased out by ATE style calipers, ATE are the style on cav turbo and V6 and Astra GTE 16v etc

I don't have any pics to explain I'm afraid

oh I see, the slot thru pin type. im with you now.
there not delco's in that case.
I thought that ATE stamp was reserved for the 24mm big boy brakes, but its just the generation type right ?

the calipers I have are actually off a tigra, which used to be a 256x20 setup, but ive been told the calipers are the same as the corsa sports, which use shallower carriers to pull them closer in for their 236 setup.

so in that case im guessing I can use any old 236 carrier, providing its the later ATE generation. any 20mm vented corsa or mk.3 astra will probably have them.

cheers bazzy boy :)
makes more sense now :thumb:

its only taken me about 50 years to realise that the bloody calipers are bolted to the damn carrier. why did I think they were separate pieces.

ive fitted a fair amount of them as well ! :tard:

I need to go and commit seppuku for disgracing my species

i should have taken more pics of the carriers, difficult to tell how different they are.

I have a feeling the calipers are the same, even tho there numbered differently. I heard someone say the carriers make the difference between 236 and 256

any idea if the solid disc carriers the same ? or am I going to have to source sport specific vented ones ?
