As title really, just wondered if a z16 block would marry up to an e16se head??
Just weighing up my options at the minute, rebuild or do this combo as theyre readily available in scrappers in mk4 astras.
Or would e16 management fit/work on the z16se??
Before anyone says fit a v@lvaaa I have to stay 1.6 8v due to class rules

Z16 is round port anyway so E16 stuff should fit,

Unsure of cam housing though coilpack/dizzy mounting etc

andy, as far as i know, the z16se is simply a facelifted c16se. the only thing that might slow you down is if any sensor holes are in different places or have different threads.

e16se management would work if you had the e16se inlet manifold and AFM. youd just have to bin the knock sensor, crank sensor, possibly change the water temp sensor for the e16se one and fit the e16se cam, cam cover and distributor

the e16se head is better, c16se is the best.

Thanks mike,it shouldn't be a problem really if that's all that's to worry about,my main concern was what belt to use and if the holes married up.
TRNB-thanks,thats good information.
+ rep to all

well well well.......
After a bit of arsing around this aft in my garage, thought id see if it was definitely e16se I have fitted to my grasser.
Cleaned the numbers up and lo and behold its a z16se block!
So that obviously concludes this thread LOL
Now as its smoking im going to a wet and dry compression test ( when I get hold of one) to determine if the piston rings are shafted
