Cross member repair

I have found a small hole on my crossmemeber on the drivers side beside the tie bar bracket.

I assume once I start grinding it will grow.

For welding a repair can I use normal steel (ie from a donor wing) or is this too thin?

If it is then my choices are some steel which is just over 1mm or I have steel that is 2mm but I find this hard to work with.

Panel metal is far too thin in my opinion for a structural area.

For an area that is subject to significant stress I would suggest you go as thick as you can - 2mm preferably if thats what you have.
