can anyone body tell me ALL the parts i will need for this to work,
cos this would be a big help
all of the same bits as for a 16v. mostly driveshafts, engine mounts & modded gear linkage.

there's a guide at www.valvers.com but ive done this conversion b4 only changing the drivers mount as u don't get the clearence problems with the 8v that u get with the 16 valve

Im just about to put a 2 ltr in my nova GTE,not sure if im going for a 16v or 8v,im currently waiting for a lad to speak to his mate about a c20xe(2ltr 16v)very cheap,so hopefully it'l be the 16v i get.
Weather it be 8V or 16V i end up getting, ill be buying a set of mounts from 'www.valvers.com' (check this site out as it has a good guide on fitting a 2ltr engine to a nova) ,you get a drivers side engine mount bracket,a rear gearbox spacer,and all the bolts needed so the engine sits right,all for ?40 including delivery and VAT.
My standard Nova GTE driveshafts can be used,but the inner CV's have to be changed for mk2 cavalier 1.6 CV's,which i currently have on order at a local motor factors for ?55 for the pair.
Im gonna borrow a mig welder and make a recessed box for alternator clearance,just so it looks nice rather than bash it in with a big hammer, which is a cowboy trick if you ask me!
Also gonna stitch weld all the engine bay for strength,and also weld a little plate where ive got rust on the boot floor while ive got the welder.
Just a few questions though to those in the know:-
1-Has anyone got ant pics they can post up or email to me of the area where im gonna weld in a box for alternator clearance to see how deep,long and wide i have to make it,and of where in the engine bay i have to stitch/seam weld,or do i weld every seam?
2-Im gonna cut and weld either the bottom of the downpipe or the exhaust to make them meet up,am i best doing the lower part of the down pipe or the front of the exhaust itself(I dont wanna use a flexi joint)
2-What about the gearshift linkage,can i use the nova one?
3-Do i use nova accelerator and clutch cables or something else's?
4-Any other useful tips?
5-whats the 0-60mph of a nova with a standard C20XE + F20 box?

- id live the downpipe as it is and modify the exaust instead

- yes, with the end flipped over (again see valvers.com)

- just under 7 seconds i should think
I'd go along with Chip on all those points.
IMHO dont bother with a 2l 8v conversion unless its a turbo - too heavy and gutless. Best get 16V - lot more grunt and still not expensive for what you get.
I made up a homemade gear linkage out of combining the most appropriate bits off the Nova and a Cav linkage. Its relatively easy to cut the linkages about and reweld them with your MIG. We have also realised in doing this that its a piece of piss to make the gear shift into a short shift one. We did it to a Veccy linkage cos the short shift linkage kit that had been bought was a joke. It woked out fine - we managed to shorten the forward and back throw by over an inch. We reckon you could reduce the throw a fair bit more with no probs.
