View Full Version : Mk2 dash/ tachometer problems

Hi all I have been fitting a set of mk2 dials to my mk1 allmthemwiring is complete for the 14 pin plug however the tachometer is still not working. I believe it could be down to the wire shown in the above image. It's a green wire with a black sleeve located near the ignition coil and the switched live.

The wire in the picture isn't plugged into or attached anywhere currently could this be the problem? Or do any of you know where this wire goes? Cheers


If any of you have any ideas to do with this wire or why the tachometer isn't working I would very much appreciate your help to get my c20xe loon back on the road!

If on the back of the dial set, on the rev counter side there is a terminal for spade terminal.
Find end of the green/black wire in ur pic (check for 12v power) .. Crimp a spade terminal on the end and pop it onto the terminal on back of dash.

I am running the mk2 14 pin dials now all the wiring is done. I have run the green wire from by the ecu as the tacho. So this wire should go to the clocks?

I have also tried hard wiring the green terminal from the dials directly to the negative of the ignition coil but no joy

The lime green wire is the standard rev counter wire colour. Easiest way to get power to it is make sure to find a 12v power supply at the coil when ignition is on. Using a spade terminal on that point run the wire up the harness and onto the dash on the side the rev counter is on that should work, its how its,always been done

Ok I have found the problem why the tacho isn't working! A melted resistor or capacitor on the circuit board. It is completely melted I cannot tell what it is. I have rushed down to maplins but they have no idea either. If anybody with these dials knows what the big green cylinder part is either a capacitor or reaistor is and what ohms it is etc that would be a huge help! Cheers
