View Full Version : Worst thing you've driven

At the moment I'm in a 5dr 1988 1.3 Astra.

It's got 4 bald tyres the rear wiper, rear heated screen, temp and fuel gauges, 4th gear and the choke are broken. it's got the worst steering wheel judder above 60, and I can't get anymore than 78 out of it. The sunroof is siliconed shut (to stop it leaking) it's done 180k. It's a faded pink shade of red and the front wipers can only do slow.

It's shocking - and do you think anyone will steal it?

NO!

I've put a lock on, left the radio in (pioneer) and I've left it in some right dodgy places.

Take it to a field and burn in out, and report it stolen to the police.

pmsl it was nicked last night...

Muppets, it had about a quids worth of petrol in...

It's really left me in the shit for getting to work, but I really don't care. The Landy is far far better - even if it'll take me longer to get there and cost twice as much.

Honest to God I'm not..

Went out to find an escort where I left it. I thought my Dad had moved it/hidden it. but he didn't have a clue what I was talking about when I asked him.

Oh well wasn't mine anyway.

Sounds like many a car i have owned.

Probably worst i have drove was a Nova with no brakes whatsoever (no handbrake either) a smashed windscreen, the rear tyres had slits all around the wall's, the headlight or indicators never worked, all 4 bearings had gone where it had been parked for 2 years before we moved it. It wasnt Taxed or MOT'd and i had to drive it from Wiltshire to my house.

Engine was sweet though.

My dad's R5 alpine turbo.. it was all over the road, but it was very fast.

The worst drive i ever had wasn't any of my nova's - or even the missus' 1.0 26 year old fiesta with an engine problem - nope - it was a 2 month old Daewoo (the one that looks a bit liek an astra).

My dad used to deliver carsand from time to time would let me have a go at em when he kept em over night... and that car he said was so bad to drive i just had to try it to believe it.

Seemed promising at first - comfortable seat - driving position wasnt too bad - but the drive of it was just soooo bland and un-inspiring and the cornering ability of it was well... it was dangerous - no grip and the body roll put a standard nova to shame easily.

It was terrible.

All of the cars you lot are talking about sound like a proper mess but that adds character and fun to the drive... a nice little quirk like no brakes or lights makes it something different and interesting. This was a 2 month old year 2000 car and yet it was worse to drive than anything i have driven up to that point or since.

Note to self *NEVER buy a daewoo*

Same as a Mk2 Astra Wisewood - The roads were damp the other day and I couldn't go more than 5-10mph around roundabouts.

i drove a mk2 astra once though and it wasnt as bad as that daewoo - seems they tried to make it more comfortable and just made the suspension too spongy.

even the 1.0 fiesta that the missus ahs at the moment till her nova is sorted is better than that daewoo...

it doesnt go very fast at all - and struggles up hills but thrashing around in it on flat roads is loadsa fun - corners REALLY well for an old car with standard suspension. Missus driving my clio and me in the fiesta i have left her way behind on the way to my mums once.... simply coz i was throwing it into corners at 50 - 60mph to try and keep the revs up.

ive found that lots of the "old" cars like unos etc are a right laugh to drive, as they dont have much power etc so your expectations are way lower than normal.

the worst car ive ever piloted was a Mk4 Astra T reg, courtesy car from vauxhall. engine was lifeless, handeled like a boat and the brakes, well under light work they were fine, but load them u and the bastid snaked like hell.

even the 35yr old landy i drove had better brakes lol. plus you could go sideways up a hill.

anyway "worat and best" are just opinions of a certain spec lol

Sad News.. :(

The Astra has been found, I spent last night recovering it.

It was found parked accross a road in a lovely part of Wolves - it had run out of petrol. I'd only gone in the Saxo and thought about towing it 300 yrds to a petrol station.

So when we'd finished laughing at the Saxo and got the Landy to tow it we got it started (using the screw driver they'd left) and drove it back to my mates house. Felt wierd starting it up in the petrol station - everyone looking at us messing with wires under the dash.

They'd taken the Radio - which doesn't work, it just looks better than an empty hole. But they'd left the tax disc. They also put a couple of scratches on it. The door lock still works even tho they screwdrivered that too.

Must try Harder.. :x

I left it in Heath Town in Wolverhampton, and Wolverhampton Town centre. Both for long periods of time.

They were just Kids, taking a broken Radio and leaving the Tax Disc. Even left the broken lock neatly placed in the door card.

Doesn't Matter now I've got it back in several pieces and I'll spend my long earned Weekend off putting it all back.
