i think nova sports & novas in general are about to go up in value...

I'm more intrigued by whether or not they will be allowed to race with the wrong shade of brown dash?

it all depends on what was homologated back in the day & i guess dashes weren't

Early novas are about to go up yes.
Especially Sr's and Sports............
But then there were a lot faster, better handling cars around in 1985,such as the fiesta xr2,to name one of many....

I looked into converting my rally Nova to do historic stuff but the reg would require too many changes to the car to be eligable. All my fibreglass panels and polycarb windows would have to go for a start, I could enter the open classes but if I was going to do it, it would have to be a propper Historic car.

The regs are available here:

Why does it make them go up in value?

It won't change a thing.

Why does it make them go up in value?

He's assuming that as there now eligible for use in it that people will see them as an easy or cheap car to use, hence if there's demand the price will rise, as if you know someone was willing to pay say £3-4k for your car, you might sell?
If they offerd more than I'm guessing you definitely would lol
I'm guessing this type of thing pushed up normal prices on mk1-2 escorts?

Still a cheap alternative to a lot of stuff used so a few more will get wrapped round trees numbers will drop even more so prices go up. Yah

the xr2 never had a successful rally career like the nova did. ford simply didn't homologate it. thus it won't be much use on the stages to old group A spec.

I think the rule change will suit pug 205's a shade better....

The nova ight have had a decent rally career, it wasn't the be all and end all of rally vehicles.

i don't think the pug 205's rear suspension is particularly good for forest stages, but it will be fun to see them out on the stages...

the nova sport was an iconic rally car, it was developed into something quite special. the colin mcrae effect will help too.

it will only ever be a class winner... it also means mantas & asconas will meet the cutoff too...

Briefly reading it but will Series 7 allow the fitment of 16v engines? If so then there could be some very competitive Novas entering

mowgli

i can't imagine anything bigger than 1300 8v will be allowed..

This was bound to happen anyway, there have been a disproportionate number of A and B registered Novas on the stages for a while...dodgy IDs ahoy ;)

Well yeah, there are the blinkered people lol

One would imagine the rules have been changed because old cars are getting hard to obtain and also lots less folks are taking part in Motorsport anymore due to the costs, so open up a load of easier to get hold of cars and voila, you have a series again.

Its the fees involved to compete in a rally that have killed it imo.
£500+to do trackrod rally Yorkshire in dalby forest.Crazy, who has that sort of disposable income every couple of months in this day and age???

A lot of that is charged by the Forestry Comission for use of the forest, but yes still a lot of money for one rally. Add in fuel and tyres etc and you are looking at well over a grand before you even start. Plus transport, accomodation etc and the costs get absolutely ridiculous.

Rallying is on its **** TBH, the only decent events are single venue ones like Croft as they are miles cheaper making it more accessible for the club competitors
