might sound a bit funny, as ive changed gearbox's, cambelts and a couple engines, alongside other things, but never changed a thermostat lol (the cowboy I am)
on the 13S engine, is there enough room to change it without taking the cambelt off ?
and will I need a new gasket for re-fitting or do I use the same liquid gasket sealer used on waterpumps ?
cheers :thumb:

Correct way is cambelt off, although I have done one many times on a 1300 without although its rather fiddly. The cambelt rear cover allows access to the two housing bolts on a 1300, but on 1400/1600's it doesnt.
You need a rubber sealing ring, and I use Hylomar to seal the housing to the block. Never had a problem with that.
I've never taken the belt off

cheers, I have some of that hylomar.
i'll have a go with the belt still on.
Im having temperature issues.
I wanted to run it stat-less for a few days, to see if that was the culprit
nice one chris :thumb:

and edd :)
Running without a stat will cause more cooling issues. It keeps the pressure high in the head n block preventing boiling, without it there is less pressure and more boiling.
