Sounds like you have the wire for the ignition on the wrong position on the ignition

I think you have wired the black wire on the Xe loom into a constant 12v instead of just when the ignition needs to be on.... Maybe

We're should that black go

The black wire iirc is down by the front of the gearbox I think it was connected to the reverse light live which is only on when the ignition is on I think thats how mine was done. I think I got that guide from tv magazine few years back. But I could be wrong it's been a while since I did the wiring bit on mine

the other thing to check is the alternator is back feeding the ignition circuit. Once the field coils are energised the system is self-sustaining. Often fitting a diode to the alternator can help this.

you can prove this by simulating the condition again and then remove the alternator connections while the engine is running and it should stop.

I still don't understand lol

I always run mine straight off the ignition barrell basically what these lot are saying is that..... for the ecu to turn on and be live and create a voltage to send to the fuel pump it needs a 12v Ignition feed so that it can turn off and on when the car stops as you dont want a constant 12v feed to the ECU as it wont stop (your issue) and will burn out the ECU, some 12v feeds are permanent and some turn of with the igntion, what you need to do is go remove the cowling from around the steering wheel get a multimeter and check the voltage on the back of the ignition barrell plugs. Start with the ignition on and you will see 12v on the meter then turn the key off and the voltage will be 0v if its a ignition live if its still saying 12v then that is a permanent live. Then splice the ignition live wire and it should be ok! if Not then your iginiton switch could be fooooked

The wires in the back of the ignition barrel. When the engine is on one will give a constant 12v reading. Join the black c20xe ignition wire to the constant 12v and it will switch the engine on and off with the key

That's how I did it to mine anyway lol

How have you wired up your switched live? If its got an perm. live then that will cause it not to switch off

This is like my switched live (early lambda XE loom)
