View Full Version : Virus etc removal
Any good things to download to get rid of computer clap?
Virus and malware suspected....
malwarebyte, avast antivirus, spybot search and destroy, comodo.
Use a combination of those to keep the nasties out
malwarebytes would be choice 1 for a scan, it's the most comprehensive.
then what?
only had to do this once before.
Its asking for my name and email? is my search compromised?

There, direct link, that should just download it straight away, if it doesn't there's a good chance you have something much clevererer than computer clap. I'd download the anti virus stuff on a friends PC and install it from there on yours.
As for asking for email and name, if its on the install stage it *shouldn't* really need it, just read the small print carefully and you should be able to skip any registration.
check what programs you have installed as well, when i had this kind of trouble with my old pc, some program had installed itself causing grief, deleted it and half the probs went away
I might just take this pc into the garden and get my trusty hammer out

If its happened recently then you can go back to a restore point

Take it to the tip and recycle it
Sounds like your cookies have gone soggy.
Did your lass forget to twist the packet closed afterwards?

a lot of the time they by-pass virus software, as they get installed along with .exe files that users run to install programmes.
sometimes the damage they do cant be undone.
cleaning up your pc can sort it out, but will probably leave windows running slow and tainted somewhat.
like brains said, you can go back to a restore point (if you had one saved)
or you could be ruthless and wipe the hard drive, and install a fresh version of windows to start again with
Its pretty much standard practice to reinstall windows every year or so isn't it? lol
Yeah can't beat the old format c: unfortunately
system restore is a must.
then using the
[start]
[programs]
[accesories]
[system tools]
[disk cleanup]
will clean up any junk.
then do a [ctrl][alt][del] and check the processes running. there could be a rogue one.
oh, and i personally remove anything to do with apple itunes, cos my kids keep adding that & all its friends, and it really screws with my pc.
Its hopefully sorted but thanks for all help.
Checked all that ctrl alt del jargon and couldn't find owt.
Plus I was scared of ...ZOMFG//c:/windows/system32failedzomg...file is fukked etc lol
