Converting 4x4 to rwd

Im wondering if any of you can help, what would need to be done to convert a 4x4 car to rwd?

Depends what you are starting with & if the 4wd system is biased toward front or rear

I wouln't bother. Transverse tend to biased more toward the front. Why make the vehicle less able?

Well I want a drift car tbh and since I already have a car I could potentially use if it was rwd I thought it would be a good idea to try it out rather than buying another car.

as a guess, if you could weld the front diff solid, then fiddle the [no-doubt electrical] centre diff control system, & remove the front shafts, it should be totally possible.... i don't understand the point of it, but who am i to judge

For a transverse 4WD car, Evo's supposedly lend themselves to it very well (easily).

Centre diff is a viscous coupling. If it thinks the front isn't moving, it will very quickly get hot and burn out. That'll be why you can't tow an ST205 on a dolly.

Best option would be to just buy an S13 or something lol

Ah I see ive already burnt out the rear diff before and was a bugger to source another. That's that out the window then lol I'm sure I can probably pick up a 200sx for peanuts.

Also as a drift car, you don't really want it to be your pride and joy, if it hits the wall ass end first you want to be able to go at it with crowbars and a lump hammer to get tyre clearance and really not care.

Deffinitely! I went to Toyota and try don't sell it in 1 piece anymore, it's the internals and the casing separately was circa 2 grand for it!:eek:

Just do as my mate does. Run a ropey E30 325i with a welded diff.

I know a couple of Lithuanian guys that used to rally them, said it takes a few different mods to make them go sideways in a controllable fashion.

My best mate is after one atm and they are pretty crazy priced for a mint one! Luckily he just wants a track car so something a bit rough around the edges is ideal, and thankfully cheaper!

BMW option could be a good one, the older 3 series are quite cheap now.

Mv6 omega cheap and easy worked at not like a lot of jap stuff and beemers are dead unless you go for 325 up. Thers a cheap one on eBay no bids at the min would be great for the job

For drifting just look for an E36 328i sport (non traction control, as those ones had a LSD). Fit an M50 inlet manifold and its a very capable car.

Or for 2k pick up a ropey M3.
