View Full Version : What front splitter would suit my Nova?
The front bumper on my Nova is fiberglass and doesn't go as low a plastic GSI one so was thinking of adding a splitter but not sure which one.
Any ideas?

SEAT Leon ones look good if it will fit. Might be too curved. Thought you were selling it?
The cupra ones do look nice but I think they might be a little wide?
The for sale thread was bumped the other day from last year, really not sure if I want to get rid of it. It all depends if I get a decent job, if I do I'm not selling any time soon.

I forgot to mention that I've bought a golf vr6 splitter but there is no way of mounting it and its quite deep so gave up on that idea.
I wouldn't mind a proper one like the track day people use which goes under engine too but I wouldn't know how to make one.

I've got a corsa gsi one on my new bumper, my old one has an Ibiza one I think they both look decent, Ibiza one is quite low though.

VR6. I used to run one. But got fed up refitting it. lol
Its quite square so IMO would suit the lines of the bumper.

A plain Renaut Megane mk1 splitter would be subtle.

Not easy to find out with out the cut outs. I want one.

VR6 is ridiculous imo it's too large. Laguna style is right, but let down by the holes on each side; if you can find one without it's perfect.

Then you can put the flat floor under that.

Are you joking? They are probably the easiest splitter to find. Most breakers have 5 or 6.
Megane's and scenics never had vents. That was just the early Laguna mk1 and espace mk2. I have a shelf full of the vented ones, both deep and shallow styles, but don't bother with the Megane ones as they are worthless in comparison.

Might be a long shot, but i sell Volvo 940 front splitters on the E30 scene. They are very much like the 318is style, but slightly deeper and more aggressive.
Turned upside down they look great, not sure on fitment to a Nova though.
Google search "E30 Volvo lip trick" for images.
Phase 2 mk2 2 Clio?

People fit these right at the chin of the bumper, but because of the situp & beg stance, I put mine further back.

I have never seen one I like... They all look stuck on and chavvy... I am guessing a std Gsi bumper won't go on?
Cheers for the ideas
Will, a standard GSI bumper won't fit

Bolt on? Or do it proper and cut the factory one out and do it that way?

It'll be a one off that can be undone from underneath; plywood under ally with some side boxes / canards.
The front will most likely be mounted to the tie bar brackets (they're welded onto the box section cross member), but the back will require another frame I expect.
It's not really a show car tbh; the pictures make it look cleaner than it really is, there's now a list of bodywork to do again. The plus side of being an ongoing development piece means boundaries can be pushed without the concern for keeping it mint because people like looking at a flawless example.
For instance the rear arches are rusting through at the top of where the flair starts because that's where the tyres touch the inside of the body on a sudden impact. Not going to cry about something so marginal; just means next time I feel like doing a bit of metal work, I'll cut it out & replace with something a hair wider. It'll then get driven hard to prove that's where it needs to be before even dreaming of finishing the paint.
I'm planning a rear wing too, but all of these things have to wait until I have an income.

A car don't need to be mint, or perfect to take it a show or event, what I was saying is that I've never seen it at any event nothing, so do you just do trackdays?
Si, it's your car's trick bits which there are many that make it an amazing car. The parts where you've really gone all out and build/modd it in ways that most wouldn't think of.
You need a project thread and so bring it to a show or two so I/we can really have a look at it....

Dunno about that, I just like a logical approach. Given the time / funds I'd like to tip the engine forwards on a dry sump so the front can come down a little more, but that'll probably happen when a different manifold gets made.
I have never seen one I like... They all look stuck on and chavvy...
Exactly how I have always felt.
They don't follow the lines of the bumper, and in most cases, are used in an attempt to 'lower' the car.
When the bumper comes down lower than the skirts, it looks stupid usually.
It does not make your car look like this;

A gsi bumper sits lower than the sill/skirts tho.... Iirc.
