They were homologated, but only the 417 cars(As advised by Andrew Deurden) that were registered by the deadline. The remainder were registered I assume but did not appear on the homologation list. Vauxhall got fined afaik for missing the deadline.

Just to add to what novasport has written. Basically gm dealer sport were supposed to have manufactured a minimum of 500 nova sports before they were permitted to use side draught carbs in competition, and a certain time frame was put in place for all 500 cars to be manufactured and be available to the public. That time frame was passed and gm dealer sport had ordered and distributed 417 nova 1.3 base models, and maintained a record of their chassis numbers. I believe that a competitor at the time complained about this, and gm dealer sport were fined by the msa as a result. The outstanding sports were produced, however they were made after the deadline, and are not officially classed as nova sports, as they are not recorded on the gm dealer sport homologation list of chassis numbers. That being said, there are examples of these later produced novas being sold by dealerships as sports, although they are not officially recognised by gm dealer sport. Gm dealer sport paid the fine and were permitted to carry on competing in the group a category with the homologated car.

You would have to be in possession of a 1986 'C' registered 1.3 Base V5 logged nova in white to claim it was possibly one of these late manufacturer cars! Good luck with that one!!
