New tanks should be galvanised. Stone chip would look cack, as would hand painting it. Spray Hammerite would be OK

Hot dip galvanised all the way then powder coated would be and is what I'm doing with mine, all plastics and protection need to be removed first
Powder coated. Be the best way.

Hot dip galvanizing may warp the tank though
Heres what a powdercoated tank looks like.

Yes sorry ment Electrogalvanized it ives a bright smooth finish. Powder coating is good but will chip and rust. If you plate it them powder coat it's going to have a longer life.

sounds good but how expensive is it....??? im on a budget and dont wanna start spending ridiculous amounts of money but still want to reduce the rust remedy as much as i can...???

Not sure really as it was with a collection of parts I had done. I'd imagine it was in the region of £30 - £40 when I split the pricing down with the other stuff!
use several coats of good exterior metal paint, dulux or diy store own brand.
