hi there,

i have a wee 1.0 nova she is a 1992 3 door model

i have this problem with the water pressurizing is it normal for water to pressurize?

i have already changed the head gasket were i thought was the problem as the water and oil were mixing but even after this the water is still pressurizing.

has anybody got any ideas of what it could be?

i took the thermostat out to make it stop overheating as fast cause my fan was broke but now i have a working fan again would that be the problem of the water pressurizing as i did not put the thermostat back in?

when you say pressurise, is it literally blowing it out everywhere?? are you losing water?

the system is meant to pressurise to a certain point anyway, but the rad cap looks after it.

no its not blowing it off but the pressure in the pipe is a very high pressure and when i go to loosen the water cap it goes everywhere? is this normal?

and when its under pressure there bes no water in were its meant to be but as soon as i loosen the cap water comes back into it under pressure and comes out everywhere at the top?

get a replacement cap for a start. did you use the heater pipe on the cylinder head to let air out after the head gasket replacement?

when you put the car back together, the heater pipe on the cylinder head has to be off to allow air locks to secape whilet the cooling system is refilled. The hose is -if I rememebr correctly-(facing the ccar) on the right handside behind the inlet manifold.

Once the system is filled, then the hose is replaced, and the usual moving the big hoses etc to get rid of any air lock before finally topping up and putting the cap back on. Did you do the head gasket your self? If you used a \haynes manual, this is all in it.
