Ive found a 'performance chip' on the bay which claims they can get upto 30bhp depending on the vehicle, in the small print it says the chip "piggy backs" onto the leads off your IAT SENSOR

Is this all aload of bull poop or can these so called chips be beneficial or work anybody know about them or ever had any runnings with them ??

Hmm yeah thats what im worried about can you recommend anywhere that sells genuine chips or know anywhere that can chip a car ??

not to sure really unless you got to a proper garage that specialises in performance parts, rather than buying some universal one off ebay. or you could get a programmable ecu like a megasquirt

Aren't those inline ones just resistors or suchlike that make the car think its getting more air so dumps in more fuel?

Someone I no bought one of these years ago and when fitted.to a corsa sri The car would just hit the limiter lol, you get what you pay for with them

30bhp.... lmao

All they will do is slew the IAT into thinking its cold so chucks in more fuel. More fuel with no more air means no more power lol

Best Plaice for chips which are cheap is HERE (http://www.harryramsdens.co.uk/)

Close the eBay page down and get the idea out of your head!

simply don't bother.

if it really was that easy, don't you think that cars would already have one fitted??

Had to double check the date of this thread, thought it's been fairly common knowledge for few years now that they are a con.

there are loads of con trick fuel savers or tuning devices on the internet & not one could possibly ever work....they've been around for decades....

the fuel magnets are a particular favourite... considering that fuel passes thru an electrical pump on 99% of all petrol cars, and an increasing number of diesels.... the magnetic forces in the pump would do the trick.... if it actually worked..

the 'catalyst' or several ball bearings in a wire cage thrown into the tank.... made cars instantly unleaded......

the tuning 'chip' resistor has been around for at least 25 years that i know of..on something like an 80's injection system, as fitted to the nova gte, it was designed to fit a great many different models, the characteristics of the system are actually tuned by the use of different resistors on the ecu circuit, so the theory stacks up, but on anything later, its not worth it.
