I want to buy a reg plate starting with either b or c reg, just to look like old style b or c reg (letter plus two or three number then three letters).

How much is this type of plate likely to cost and then how much is it to get a plate actually on the car?

Had a look on a few reg trasnfer sites and it's a bit confusing!

Should be about £80 to transfer.

If the plate is already on retention it will cost £25 to transfer it into your name so you can assign it to your vehicle.
If it is on another car it wil either cost £80 to transfer it straight from that vehicle to yours or £105 to put the plate on retention for a year. If the retention certificate is in your name then it is free to assign it.
If you buy a plate on a retention certificate then make sure the person named on the certificate signs it before handing it over and you must assign it before the expiry of the retention period.
Buying direct from the DVLA sale of marks is easiest as there is no VAT or assignment fees over what the price the plates are listed at.
What initials do you want?
