Seeing as im injured and cant ride at the moment I was driving for a biking uplift yesterday. met some top blokes and made myself some new friends. Was talking to 1 lad about my love for all things Vauxhall, and he told me he had a mk2 Astra GTE convertible, only 250 made, his dad owned it for nearly 20 years..... its a minter! Thought I'd share the pictures he sent me.

I think its a gorgeous car, he needs to let me spend a day cleaning it properly though lol

Girl I used to work with in Sherborne had a GTE convertible too. Didn't realise they were that rare!

Sold it for pennies when she went to work abroad though.

I didn't realise how rare they were either! I sold one about 10 years ago for £340...doh!

I can confirm the death of one out of 250 in bournemouth in about 2005 it was wearing a hideous jap style kit and died from rot , it was painted met purple no idea what the original colour was

He told me he wants to change the wheels for originals. It never gets driven just sits in his garage and gets admired by his dad, the lad hasn't got a great interest in cars but knows what he's got and wants to look after it.... It's a minter!

They made more than 250 mk2 astra convertibles iirc. The exclusive edition was limited to 250.

The exclusive was only in a metallic blue colour iirc. I've a feeling he may have been misinformed somewhere :)

i had 2 of them number 103 and 203 about 4 years ago it was near mint and sold it for 600 pound

They must be fairly rare if they were numbered.... Were yours blue as John mentioned?

There are 2 in my town*...lol and about 3 on auto trader... Can't see them as that rare. My mate is/has rebuilt a lovely blue one...

the exclusives were all aqua blue and im sure there was 300 made

An ex of mine had one of them run out limited edition models, they were all that colour and had all the toys with them, electric everything. Had a 20NE engine. Was a nice car at some point in its life. But when she bought it (off a crooked dealer) it was 5 minutes before the rust came through and bits started breaking! Died a very sad death....

the exclusives came with electric roofs windows mirrors also the mirrors are also heated I also had a 1.6 l reg which had no electric stuff

I use to have a blue one which i fitted a c20xe to.
It went much better..
