i can pull the steering wheel in and out quite a bit, without taking the thing apart, anyone got any idea whats ****ed? ie bushes etc, all bolts are tight before you ask lol

have you checked the rubber uj at the bottom?

yes mate, seems fine, rack is of now and its still got the same amount of play

is the spring still fitted behind the steering wheel?

Sounds like the top bearing in the stalk housing (bit where the stalks clip into and the cowling bolts to) is fcuked to me

Bearings top and bottom. You can still get them from Vauxhall (well i did a few years ago)

it might be the mesh bit that collapses in a crash. it might not. i think ive seen this before where it colapses when taking a PITA steering wheel off, it shortens and gives a bit of play.

Isn't there a white plastic spacer/washer style thing at the bottom of the column that can come out quite easily? I can't remember if that would allow the column to move or not.

Have you had the wheel off revlcnetly?

Havent got movement in mine but have got a clicking noise when turning after taking mine off??

Sounds like the top bearing to me, had this recently on mine. They are still available. I managed to damage the bottom one getting the column apart and havent been able to find these anywhere, so if someone knows it would be useful. The top bearing on mine had a lot of play in it, good thing is its relatively simple to change, once you get the wheel off!

there is zero side to side play, just in and out (sounds rude lol), better check for a spring lol

That holds everything in the center, as in clock hands wise.

buy the tool for it mate, makes life much easier
