Get some more photos up!
You have removed a lot of strengthening by the looks of it - what sort of spec will it be when finished?

I bought the motor with the sole intention of using it to compete in the form of motorsport called Autotesting. It has been a labour of love for the past 7 years and I have prepared and set up the motor my self with a lot of trial on error along the way. Having loved every minute of it I thought I'd share the progress with you since I have been on here for a few years now (too busy working on them to be on the computer ):thumb:

In 2011 after already having put new rear and front panels on after market rubbish (lesson learnt especially on a competition car) the front tie bar bracket completely pulled of the member. After re-welding and strengthening the front member there was nothing else to do apart from space framing the front end or the shell was scrap. I wasn't going to do that all you's know even the sound deadening is a job in its self to get off and I had done a lot more into this than that, ie plenty of grinding discs ha ha.

and! how many cars pass there mot with a massive hole in the back of the car
Love the one piece front end,
Nice work on the front end all together :)
Right people the front end is all welded up and strengthened in the right places, engine mocked up and fibre glass front end fitting as well as they do. So now is time for the paint.
The motor is used for completion and not on the road, Me being a M.O.T Tester I am sure prescribed areas would come into it some were but not a lot is required to get a stripped car in the road its only got one seat so only needs one seat belt but that's another story !!!!!

Had to get this one in for a laugh took a pick of the old front end on the back of the scrap van thinking I hope I've done the right thing here. It just so happens the car at first was like driving someone else's car put with a lot of seat time and a few fine tweeks the car is going really well and I am currently leading the BTRDA and MSA Autotest championships after 7 year of trial and error a marriage and a few kids along the way loved every minute of all of it and still am ;-) will try to up load a video now bare with me people........

John you going to the billing Vauxhall show haven't been to 1 yet could fancy it ?????
Good work pal. How strict are the regulations for autotesting?
Hi The blue regulation book requirements are that it has to keep the original silhouette of the vehicle not a lot else really .....
Front end is very nicely done.

Looking good.
I'm surprised it's as heavy as 550kg with no roll cage though?
There should be plenty more you can lose from that, as autotest regs give a lot more freedom than (say) hillclimb/sprint.
Out of interest, where did you get the one-piece front panelwork from?
Looks smart that! nice figures from the engine too :)
I have a friend in Ireland who makes them for me, he has the mould just a pain to get them over here. He has one done for me now for a friend of mine just waiting to get the chance to get it over.
As for the weight I thought 550 kg was pretty light but I put a lot of weigh into the front end for strength rather than weight loss, The Corsa C EPS unit has got a bit in it but works well so don't mind that. I think if I took any more out of it , it would crumple like a packet of Walkers ha ha
Great build, like others I'm well impressed with the fibreglass front end.
You should get fake lights painted on like stock car hot rods...
Hi I have been trying to find someone to do that for me but can't in my area !!!!!!!!!!
If anybody on here can help me let me know would be appreciated ;-)..............

Iain in Nottingham made me up some stickers from scanned photos of the headlights, they were brilliant (but were Mk.1 shape, so I haven't used them).
As for weight, I can only compare to my hillclimb Nova (see my Project thread if you aren't familiar with it).
That is under 540kg, but with a full welded in roll cage.

No problem at all, glad to be of help. In fact I've just asked Ian to supply me with a set for my Nova as well, they do look great. It will be a while yet before my car is in action though.
Give me a shout if you have any questions regarding specific weight-saving areas, and I'll see if I can give you any useful advice.
I'm intrigued once again by something you've posted; What sort of van have you got that you can get a Nova into?
Sprinter van?
What a really good build, well done.
And top driving skills too!!
Collins I have been flying round the country doing the British championship with me a nova in the back of my 2003 sprinter for 3 years now.

Am I right by saying you bought the 1000 cc turbo hill climb nova? nice bit of kit will have to too and throw info for weight I thought I had a lot out of mine, put a bit into the front end ( in the right place for my sport ) noticed your name through e bay a lot of tasty bit going through there m8

I wondered if it was a Sprinter. Sadly there's no way my Nova would go in one with its wider track and wide arches. Shame.
Yes, I bought the 1000cc Nova turbo which was originally built and driven by Andrew Bradley who runs BTEC Racing in Oxfordshire.
The car has changed a lot since then though, especially so after I unwittingly modified it against the scenery at roughly 100mph. Since then it's been undergoing a fairly hefty rebuild.

Glad you got the stickers and are happy with them. They look awesome on the front of the car! Was worried about the angle of the indicator as it just looked odd on paper, but lines up really well. Glad to be of service :)
This thread has got even better !!
