Thinking of doing my back garden in this as the dog keeps killing my grass an the little girl likes to play on it.

Anyone laid any? How hard and where did you get it from as looks pretty pricey

Artificial grass is bad if you fall on it, your child will end up with burn on there legs... Only know this from seeing mates play 5 a-side over the years though( I'm thinking AstroTurf though).

it is chuffing expensive.... have you thought of putting up a fence on your garden to keep the pooch from the bit your little'un plays on??

can you still get pepper dust?? it is ace at keeping dogs & cats away from your lawn.

The new stuff now is mich softer than the old Astro Turf

basically, you kill off the grass, then level it with sand, and lay the green carpet..... its porous, so it lets rain thru, which means it lets dog mess thru too, so its not very hygienic..

if the dog is simply running round like a maniac & wearing it out, you can lay a plastic netting on it & once the grass has grown thru it, it makes it strong enough for cars to drive on it too.

Cheers guys yeah your right it is expensive I need around 20m2 so not gunna be cheap. I've looked on net and like you say it just looks like a case of building a wooden frame to tack it to fill with stone then top layer of sand.

I can't put a fence round my lawn as the little one loves to play with the dog and same other way round.

Like I say doesn't look hard but was just seeing if anyone had done it to confirm.

i've laid pretty much everything but fake grass... for the work that goes into it & cost, you could pave it twice......

either pay the money, or make sure your little'un has had her jabs...a bit of muck at an early age prevents stuff like asthma

Cheers mate where did he buy it from? How did you lay it an fix it? Was it simple enough?

It has to to be this or grass as we have a patio paved area and a big decking square and wood clippings where her trampoline is so I need grass or fake stuff as its where they sit and play an mess around.

It's not the dog **** that kills it its the piss as she's a bitch an it burns it if you get me.

Have you actually looked/felt proper fake grass?
We had samples from about a dozen suppliers in differing qualities etc, and yes the really cheap (but still expensive) stuff is terrible but even adding a few quid per sq m got you to a product that was very close to that of real grass and didnt need sand in it.

For an acceptable quality and look of product you need to be looking at about £30per m^2 which for a small garden is great as it pays for itself in a year or two but anything over 20m^2 and its not the best route IMHO.

A friend had similar trouble. He used a hosepipe and a dog repellent product. The hose diluted the piss and the repellent trained the dog to go elsewhere

The front grass at mine is half moss and generally fooked so we keep thinking of getting some. Does it look decent or still tacky like the stuff used to look years ago? We don't go on the grass so it's just got to look nice really.

I just dig down 3 inch from the final height, put down a 3x2 frame round the perimeter putting 2x2 pegs at the corners etc to hold the frame square and level. Fill up an inch high layer of hardcore and then top up with sharp sand. Wack it and keep topping it up until its flush to the top of the frame, damp sand helps, staple over weed barrier fabric. Lay out the AstroTurf and fix with decking screws as they are green

the crazy golf courses in orlando are awesome.... i got involved in trying to sort out a british one once... it was proper crap.. the water feature ran the wrong way, and none of the holes were capable of draining rain water!! it was built by britains premier mini-golf contractors..... we spent a fortnight on it trying to fix the cock ups
