View Full Version : machining alloys?? to diff ET
has any one don this ?
im sure benn might have, could be wrong though?
any info on this would be great :thumb:
as long as you are happy with removing metal and think it will still be strong enough, then it should be ok.. its probably worth a call to the mfr (or their british agent) though.
this is why im asking mike
making sure its safe and wont make the wheel weak
thanks
Pic of the wheel in question, pie?
Most OEM wheels have loads of spare meat on them, so are well suited to it. http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/59151
There was a more recent thread on the blue forum where a few company names were mentioned too. I can't find it on a quick search, but it's worth reading imo.
its not an oem wheel buddy
atm its sits at ET38, am i right thinking trimming it will take it into the 40's?
thanks :thumb:

a lot of these aftermarket wheels will definitely have plenty of extra meat in them so they can create the different offsets & only have to use one casting mould, its purely an economic decision, as above, pics please
wheels are not around me atm mike
will try get some snaps of the inside if the mounting face later though :thumb:
id like to get close to 45 if possible
thanks

As said any wheel can be machined. As long as there is enough metal to work with.
A mate of mine took a good 6mm from a set of bbs a few years ago.
I had center bore machined out. But have looked at et maching too. You'll really want to take said wheel to a machineest and let then look for how much metal is there to what they can remove.
it worked out ok in the end , just had to run a different size tyre
wheel was ET35 and now runs 195 40 17
