View Full Version : 6 dial clocks
I bought some 6 dial clocks for my mk2 from silk violet (thanks) I had to wire the rev counter to the coil which isn't a problem however the fuel gauge I telling me I have way more petrol than I actually have. Any one know why this could be?
Thanks

Faulty gauge usually
However - how sure are you that your old gauges were correct?
I'm pretty sure the old ones were correct, always mileage check when I put fuel in, anyway to correct the faulty gauge?
A replacement gauge...
I had a set of sri clocks that gave the some problem. But worked fine in another nova
So I cant fix it? Would just have to get another set of clocks?

I have a fuel gauge from some 6 dial clocks that worked fine before it was removed, if your interested - drop me a PM
If you strip down the clocks (new set and old set) look on the back of the fuel gauge once its out of the clock housing, there is a white resistor thing bolted across the back, swap your old one for the one on the new gauge, this should solve the problem, had the same years ago with a set of SR/SRi clocks when fitted to my xe'd merit!
Its something to do with the resistance of the sender and the reader in the gauge not matching, it might not be perfect, but then again nova fuel gauges never are lol
Thank you very much spudly! Your a life saver, buying a spare anyway just in case haha.
Means I don't have to count miles anymore!
On the new clocks there is a blocky white resistor it's just a circuit board?

Fill up a petrol can and drive the car until it splutters and nearly runs out and then top up, you may have loads in the tank.
So I've taken the circuit board out of the back of the fuel gauge and replaced it with the white resistor block and it seems to be more realistic now to what I have
Also does anyone know where I can get some of the bulbs for the clocks?
