For sale is my much loved C20XE. I bought it with unknown milage although I was told it was mid 90k

I have receipts from Autovaux up to the sum of about £700 for all the bits that went in to it. Now has around 14k miles since the rebuild and drove like new up until the point of removal.

Whats was changed

It had all new seals everywhere. Sump with 8v baffle and bonded gasket, crank seals, head gasket, rocker gasket, manifolds, cam seals, oil pump to block the lot.

It had new big end and main end bearings with new bolts. New piston rings.

Block was decoked, oil pickup cleaned and sump flushed out.

New timing belt kit, which im sure was genuine but can't promise this.

All internals were either Mahle or GM so built to a high standard.

Wire brushed the entire block and painted in hammerite. Looked amazing when it went in, and still good now.

The inlet manifold and throttle body, PAS pump, engine mounts, belt covered and rocker cover were all shot blasted and painted or cleaned.

Whats included:

Full tall block with all ancillaries. Alternator, PAS pump, starter motor.

Full ignition system, HT leads, plugs, dizzy, coil and cap (could do with new rotor and possibly leads by now)

SFI box and air box with all unsplit inlet piping. Maf to air box was also brand new along side the rebuild.

Fuel pipes are included, again, brand new.

Throttle cable.

All coolant pipes are included as far as I remember.

Full untouched loom and ECU.

Exhaust manifold and heat shield.

A little more about it

The engine is an early unit with a GM head. It has no porous issues and uses no oil or coolant. I hasn't used a drop of oil in the year that I have been running it.

It was probably serviced 4 times in the year I had it in the car. Once when it went in, twice after the rebuild and then again a few months before it came out. Always with genuine GM oil and filter.

The engine did tap on startup when its cold. Thats an XE thing, I lived with it. It was for a few minutes at the most until it warmed up.

The rocker cover and cam belt cover were coded flame red to match the car, they are a little bit grubby now from salt off the roads over winter and probably need a fresh painting but they do the job theyre intended for.

The engine has had a varied life. Mostly on the motorway at cruising speed so a very gentle life, with no short journeys. Engine was always allowed to warm before turning off. Never over heated. 1 track day and a few spirited drives, but it was by now means ragged within an inch of its life, especially not for the first 1000 miles after the build where it was kept under 3k. Oil is clean after every service, with no swarf. It was ran with a lowered ignition cut rev limiter so has never been off the factory rev limit. Always ran on 99 octane fuel. Very pampered engine.

It will not include the gearbox, I needed this for my Saab engine but they can be picked up for £30-50. Will not include the drive shafts, as I needed these, but they can be found fairly cheaply too. The clutch pressure plate is included, which was a LUK item, again new at the rebuild with brand new GM clutch cover bolts. Friction plate not included.

This was a cracking engine, and its a shame to see it go, but onwards to bigger but not always better.

Located in Nottingham. Collection only. Lifting not a problem, I have a crane.

Looking for offers around £500-550 but nothing silly please. This is a well put together example.
