Ok ive got a set of turbosport vernier pulleys for my c20let and would like some help with regards to the setup. I am adjusting the inlet cam. Retarding it 7 degrees. I have a few questions, first, the original pulley markings are directly above the locator dowel but the verniers are 180 degrees put to this asuming the 0 mark on the reffers to standard timing. Is this a problem or can the cam be 180 degrees out?? Or should i transfer the timing marks from the original pulleys and use that?

I also need to no whether setting the inlet side is simply a case of moving the the pulley to 7 degrees retarded and setting it ip on the marks either on the pulley or that i might have to make as said above? Or is it a case of setting up the cambelt to standard, the loosening the inlet pulley and adjusting the 7 degrees using the crank and a timing disc??

All help greatly appreciated. Cheers Ben

Vernier might not be 180 deg out. it might just be on the wrong stroke - ie the crank needs a further 1x rotation.

be sure you are retarding by 7 deg on the cam or the crank

7deg on the crank = 3.5 deg on cam
7 deg on the cam = 14deg on the crank

dont get confused.

Vernier might not be 180 deg out. it might just be on the wrong stroke - ie the crank needs a further 1x rotation.

Surely it doesnt matter at this stage as i havent got a belt fitted? Im just trying to work out how to get it timed up on standard marks as the pulleys dont have any marking on the outer edge. Once i can sus that then i can adjust the timing 7 degrees. Which i believe is on the crank which would be around half a tooth on the cam?? Ill get some pics up when i get down to explain

Cheers

ok this is what i mean, this is the old pulley, the timing mark lines up with the dowel hole at the top

this is the new pulley with the only visible marks being on the inside on the pulley

and then a comparrison on the two fitted with the cam in the smae place

timing mark at top

timing mark on the bottom

so do i need to simply mark the cam up like the old 1 then set the cambelt up to standard marks, then loosen off the inlet allen bolts on the pulley, move the crank 7 degrees and then tighten, or is there more to it than that?

cheers

I run a QED pulley, i followed the tv guide and retarded it 7deg at the cam via the pulley. Which gained me more torque and a few more horses on the next RR i did.

So did your pulley have the standard timing mark on it? And did you just set the cam up to 7 degrees then fit it like normal? Im unsure what to do with the pulleys i have as the marks are 180 out to the original pulleys

Yea std mark, then lines either side to advance or retard... Then just losen the bolts and move back.... Just like tv guide said.
