Remove the air con. Egr delete. Remove the aux air pump. De cat pipe. Port and polish the head a bit. 4-2-1 manifold. Job done.

Whats your budget + how in depth do you want to og? Bolt on parts or strip engine and build up with arp, pocketed pistons, headwork, springs, cams etc?

As been said inlet/powerbox is a must. Flat flywheel or lightened flat flywheel as pot type will make car feel flat as hell until about 4k rpm and feel ****ty to drive. Also a 4-2-1 ex manifold. The inlet move peak power much higher so to help it, use a 4-2-1 not a 4-1 + gain ground clearance and helps with mid range torque too.

Here's a guide on fitting a Mantzel powerbox, a low budget version off egay should fit in a similar way.

if you don't go down the powerbox route immediately, the 1600 factory inlet manifold is larger bore.
