I've noticed the gap for a light to be fitted and one red wire on a spade connector?

What else do I need to have a functioning boot light.

Also noticed a gap for a light in glovebox & on the bonnet for the engine bay.

Very observant of you pal you need a door switch that screws to a little plate on the left hand hinge and the live should be there for it

So the red wire is the earth? And my positive wire is likely to be wrapped up in the loom above it yeah?

Just been out and fitted bulb holder and door switch and assumed the red wire goes to that so all I need now is wires to go to the bulb? Ideally is like to use oem wires but can't find any.

The red is the permanent live, this goes to one side if the bulb holder and the other side goes to the back of the switch

the switch earths itself when it is open

Yeah I understood that. Just needed to make up a short wire for the earth as there wasn't one. Only the positive. It works now so it's all good.

Has anyone ever seen a working engine bay light?

Here in my bonnet you can see on the right hand side there's a small rectangle to accept an interior style bulb holder.

The little recess below the light hole I'd there the earth goes and the light should light up when the side lights are on

I had a mate with a GTE, that had one. It fell out once and shorted it self on the strut mount nuts and took the NS lights out with it. I really wouldn't bother with it, Can't see it helping tbh.

I tried the boot light in my saloon once, it was about as useful as a bacon sandwich at a jewish wedding lol

I rigged up some cold cathodes instead. Much better.
