View Full Version : Tax exempt cars and engine conversions...?
Thought id enquire on here for my mate, he has acquired a mk1 escort as a project and it is a 1972 (iirc) so will classify for tax exemption status, now here is the question, its only a 1300 on the logbook i think, will it still classify for tax exemption when he has fitted/declared his c20let once it is built and finished?
Were completely unsure on this one, so i said id ask on here, im thinking it shouldnt matter the engine, as its the cars age that qualifies it and nothing else?

Yes it will still be tax exempt as my work college has just put a c20xe in his viva hb gt and that still tax exempt. And he's thinking about zetecing his lanchester wd10

Yep goes on car ID rather than engine
you must have 8 points to satisfy all modified vehicle regs.
the points are awarded from this list.
chassis/bodyshell 5
suspension 2
both axles 2
steering assembly 2
transmission 2
engine 1
it should be ok with an engine & gbox swap.. but someone would have to be really pedantic to pull you up on axles, simply cos so many were used on the ford escort...

I'm sure I could clear a space on the drive for an XE Manta if it's in the way lol
