Has anybody ever heard of the following

A Company which offers

Mobile Vehicle Valeting & Servicing + General House & Garden Work (Grass Cutting, Window Cleaning, Gutter Cleaning, Painting, Decorating and General DIY) ?

Basicaly one person to do all the jobs you don't want to do.

I've been thinking that if nobody will give me a job, I could just work for myself. I reckon I'll need about ?8/9k to set it up tho.

I also think It'd make loads of money.... :|

My advice ( warning profits from this advice could turn to losses. Your house it a risk) :
Car stuff - OK valeting but I know someone who used to make tidy pocket money doing basic servicing on m8's cars cos it save them packets of money against dealer charges. He used to collect the cars from where the peeps worked and returned them before the end of the day serviced and valeted
Gardening - If you can you will be best of with a trailer on the back of your Landy. Get a chainsaw and a strimmer ( plus certificates to use them) and then you will be able to sort the one big problme that peeps need sorting - cutting down and removing unwanted stuff like Leylandii

Otherwise go for it. Working for yourself can be very rewarding. You can get grants and small business advice from your local council or chamber of commerce which will be well worth hunting down. Get as much help and advice as you can. You will need to learn how to keep accounts, comply with basic legislation, deal with banks etc etc and there is plenty of help out there.

Good luck!

Go for it, everyone should have a backup in life, decent handy men are scarse as they all try to rip the general public off, if you can provide a decent service for a reasonable fee, youre sorted!

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. You get to choose your own hours and holidays too!
As long you get everything done legally you should have yourself a nice little business.

It's still an 'idea' but I've been looking at prices etc and been talking to people who have gone into business for themselves.

I think Ill give it a couple of years and do it properly, I mean would you let an 18 year old loose on your car on his own? I don't think many people would.

I've got most of what I need already, Most of the tools (just need a decent wet/dry cleaner and petrol mower), a vehicle - althogh a van wouldn't hurt, contacts and customers. A rather nice inustrial unit to run it from and limited competition.

More thinking (and money) required though
