Ive got no idea what section it should be put in so please dont tell me off mods. Right im looking at wheels for my nova as much as i like cav slabs and other vaux wheels on novas i want to find somthing old skool but i dont understand how it works as ive found a set of wheels that i like on a mk2 jetta but they are et28 and are very rare so i doubt i will find a set in et49 can somone explane it in simlpe terms and how i can measure the offset if its not printed on the rim.

unsure how to measure a rim exactly, but if you dont already know, the offset is measured from the centre of the rim width to the mating face.

p.s if you dont know what section to put it in then chuck it in general. lol thats what i do.

All I know is that ET49 is best, or as close to as possible .. Same for size like mk2 can take up to 17" with a lil arch work, but the mk1 cant cuz of its rear arches bein 5mm narrower.

The lower the ET is the more they stick out (i believe) always best to consult a soecialist if at all possible

Measure the total rim width and divide it by two. This gives measurement A
Put a straight edge across the back of the rim and measure from the straight edge to the mounting face. This gives measurement B.
Take mesurement 'B' & minus measurement 'A', this will give you the offset.

For a 15" the lowest offset you want is an ET45, although ET49 is the best option. If it is a VW wheel then expect it to be a lot lower than you hope it is (sadly) as they are usually ET38-40.

Here is an easy guide to measure offset of a wheel:

Any offset less than 49mm, the further the rim will stick out. So ET 28 is 21mm less, it is the equivalent of running 21mm spacer on standard rims.

A lower offset is OK, you just have to watch your rim and tyre width. I am running 6x15, 42mm offset Irmscher rims with 185/55R15 tyres. My arches are rolled but there is plenty of clearance.

Gutted, i dont mind a bit of poke but it looks like i would need to do some serious arch work

ET33 here, and all i can say is dont bother lol unless you like taking a grinder to your arches lol, ive used camber shims on the rear, but i think they have effected the handling not to my liking

seriously looking into a brand new set of TH's atm
