Hi,guys

Do you have any info on the F18/F18+ transmissions if they have been stock fitted with a 10-15 % LSD ? quite few people told me they do have but I refuse to believe them and I cant get hold of any F18/F18+ Vauxhalls/Opels

Cheers

I doubt it LSD's are too expensive too mass produce.

I was thinking the same and that's what i told them as well, i read somewhere that it is just with a one single plate thin flange or something which does not allow the satellite wheels to spin 100 % independently so its defo not a hellical diff like the Quaife LSD.

Let's put it this way, my mk4 Astras with F18 will spin up one wheel all day long if you want!

i did find the opel ecat site listed an lsd as an irmscher option on f20 boxes... part no.

i'd imagine the chances of finding one in the uk are slim. maybe scandanavian stuff has it fitted...what gearbox does the saab use? do any of the v6 vectras/saabs use a compatible box???

The Info I have is that only the F18 + gearboxes have that, and those are fitted to Y20DTL and Y20DTH Vectra B Mk2s and Astra G Mk4s

there was this rather interesting thread from a very long time ago....

it might point you in the right direction

Did anyone ever try that diff from the Carlton into an F20 box?

I found an info from a reliable source, now I just need to check in the TIS 2000 program F18+ that has been put on Astra F / Mk3 C20XE after 1994 and replaces the Astra Mk3 C20XE that usually had F20 and traction control equipped. As many people did not like the TC, GM were forced to remove it and offered the clients F18+ with a small Diff Lock for a small cost. Now the differential still has Planetarium and Satellite gears but it also has a small lock which only works when a certain amount of Torque has been put on, that means if you lift the car and spin one of the wheels clockwise, the other will NOT rotate in the same direction like a proper Locked Differential would. So it is an LSD Diff but not exactly :D . As far as I have read this only applies for the F18+ From Mk3 Astras C20XE, not for any other F18s or F18+s from the Diesel Vectra Mk2 a.k.a. Vectra B in the EU or Astra Mk4/Astra G in the EU.

sounds like a Torsen diff. they have a fixed percentage of slip, but are no use for competitions if you loose a shaft for example.

some different markets had different spec equipment. and some 'importers' like the bulgarian one might have specced an lsd on high spec models. i can't recall traction control or any sort of lsd being std on mk3 astras in the uk. i could be wrong though
