Hi guys,

Would a gte head be ok on a sr block?

I have just got an sr bottom end and just seeing what other options I have on sourcing a head for it.
I've been told a 1.2 or 1.3 are very close so won't make any real difference if I put a 1.2 onto my 13sb.

If the gte head will fit and be ok, I can look for all 3 then :)

Any advice is greatly received! I'm still learning :)

Manifolds and ports are different shapes. you will either have to plug the EGR and live with badly matched ports to your SR carb. Or fit a DCOE manifold and carbs which are re tuned. or an even better idea, run GTE manofold with standalone engine managables.

Ah, ok.

Thanks for the advice.

Think I will just stick to the 1.2 or 1.3 head.

I don't want to have to fuss about with this and that!

Simplicity is the way forward for me :)

Thanks again mate.

Just thought, I'm thinking of running twin 40s so that would make the inlet side ok as the twin 40s have their own manifold?
Would I need to used a gte exhaust manifold for the gte head tho?

Also would the 1.6 cam be ok with the 1.3 bottom end?
Or would it make idle lumpy?

The exhausts are interchangeable on the small block ohc engines.

The gte cam would run ok, but iirc they don't have the lobe for the carb petrol pump drive.

Getting the 1.2/1.3 head rebuilt with gte valves & a porting job would be quite a decent mod that would find you some good hp, but a 1.6 head has way larger combustion chambers than a 1.2/1.3 so you would lose some compression, unless you get it skimmed a lot.

Thankyou for that.

I will just sort a 1.3 head out then and maybe mod it.
