I've bought a new alternator for my let nova

The alternator looks the same as my old one except the shaft that the pully sits on is a lot longer. Has any one else had this issue? You can see in the pic how much it sticks out and it will fowl the chassis leg

My old one sits flush with the pully.

Not sure if I've got the wrong alternator or that I've got to take the washers off put the nut back on and grind the remaining thread down

It's got a different rotor that's all. You can do whatever you like to the threaded bit of the rotor, so best bet would be to trim it back if you can! It looks like that spacer is on the wrong side of the pulley! Just remove it but keep the spring washer on.

I've seen a few like that, take what you dont need on, put the nut on then cut the shaft down. I did it on one of mine.

Spring washers are the worst things ever & shouldn't be run on anything.
