Have you driven down the road with th clocks out and cable in place to see if you can see it turning inside?

New speedo cables needs lubricating or they just snap in my experience.

What are you bumping this thread for? See Chris's advice above. Could be speedo drive in the box, or the head itself. Connect the cable to the head, and turn with your fingers at the gearbox end.

Sorry!!! Was seeing if anyone else knew what it could be as I did ask could it be the actual Speedo itself.

Also i fed my cable through the car so i could remove the sterring cowling and i pushed it into the head fully whilst the car was moving as ive had problems in the past if it wasnt in the exact position when it was removed

its maybe just not located in the speedo drive properly? they can be a pain at times.

Reviving this thread. I'm having the same problems (but can't find a replacement speedo gear) but I didn't grease up the ends of the new (actually brand new) speedo cable. Could that also be a reason as to why it's not working? I mean, we took out the gauge and drove around to see if the cable was spinning and it wasn't either. When it was with the old speedo cable, the speedo needle would kinda wave around when I was driving. (example, if I'm doing 60, it would wave slightly between 58 and 62)

I had something similar due to the speedo cable being an too tight an angle, try un plugging it from the speedo and rerouting it the otherwide of the bracket that holds the clocks in.

I shall definitely check that, thanks for the input. I was told to just get another gearbox, but I think that might be a bit too much.

Always try the cheapest things first ;)

Just gotta try to find a replacement speedo gear just in case, but can't find one :(

It could still be a worse case of a gearbox issue but it's got to be worth a try.

I was told that 99% chance is the gear itself. There was a point where the speedo wouldn't push past 60 or 80, when I know I'm doing 110+

Test the cable and see if there's any difference first.
