hi there i have a nova mk2 gsi 20xe and i am trying to restore it and the other day i started taking off the fuel pump at the rear or car and the bracket that holds it on was rusted to death and the metal pipes that run from the front of car to rear pump there was a short piece that just snapped off and now i,m thinking of replacing but not sure which to use do i use copper pipe or can i use the cotton braided fuel pipe instead....??? also the fuel filter looks like its not been changed in a long time would it be a 1.6 standard gsi fuel filter or should i look for a mk2 astra 20xe type...???? MUCH HELP APPRECIATED.. :thumb:
I may be wrong but I thought the pipes were copper coated in plastic?
The best thing you can do for clips to hold is improvise, you can either drill holes and make a bracket or use a replacement and weld it on (dependant how close to fuel tank etc?

The original pipes were steel and I used to get 3/8" brake pipe as a replacement but cannot find any now I'm looking at using 9mm x 1mm walled SS pipe that will need bending I will let you know if it's an option you can use
Ive used plastic fuel lines from a corsa b gsi that i broke. The corsa c also has the same plastic fuel lines;)
Worth a check at your local scrap yard mate. Wouldnt expect to pay more than £10 for a set.

seems a tad excessive.
a tad expensive more like...
the kunifer/copper type stuff will bend to shape and also flex.. & you can get rolls of it at a diy store

It's going to be a road race car and prob run inside now but did plan outside. Stainless steel so never rust and not plastic as just don't trust it so a litte over kill but all I can find other than braded and they are forever then

Agreed. CuNiFer is the best alround and cheapest option if you cannot get hold of Corsa lines. Its easy to get from decent motor factors and DIY stores as you say
your shift button is a bit dodge city there ML..... kunifer is simply the brand name iirc...lol

Not looking for cheaper option and its not that expensive compared to braded plus looks spot on in the car but each to his own.
Kunifer is a brand name for the alloy, similar to Lescaloy which is bearing Steel, M50, Chromoly which is SAE 4130 etc.

yes but the name is derived from the alloy. i didnt say Kunifer wasnt a brand name.
Sorry I must have misread the "Kunifer is simply the brand name 'Nope' " then :p

I used copper 8mm microbore pipe on mine. You can buy it on rolls from B&Q etc.
Just clean the rough edges when you cut it.
