I saw one of my mates today who has one of the rare 1071cc 1964 Austin cooper S.

It is gorgeous and the picture doesn't do it justice. We took it for a drive and then he wanted to show me how it did....typical mini go cart handling, fantastic brakes for 1964 but what was really amazing was the little 1071 really came to life when pushed hard and reached over 100 with ease (and obviously being a mini, felt like 300mph), a lot stronger than my Mreg 1275icc cooper. I think it would give an SR a run for it's money, not bad for a 49 year old car with tiny cc.

A good friend is really into his mini's. He took me for a spin in one the other day and I can totally understand why he loves them. The racket inside one is insane, but the handling makes up for it no end! :thumb::d

I agree, even the 848cc one is fun to drive, and along with the charm, well once driven forever etc!

in 1984, my sister bought a 1973 850... it was a right shed. its what taught me how to repair things.. it had the 4' long gear stick & it decided to only allow 1st & 3rd gears... she drove it back home from uni down the motorway in 3rd!! poor little car.. she kept it a couple of years, but in the end, we had no way of getting it home from where it died, so we stuck a 'free scrap' sign on it & left the keys in it. it went
