im pretty sure its possible but wouldn't know where to take them. im thinking of having my avo coilovers serviced. the damper adjustment screw doesn't want to turn and as they've sat for so long I think it would be wise to overhaul them, sod.... where can they go?

I have them aswel, lookin at gettin mine done aswell as the front height adjusters are now seized, I spoke to mate that had a mk2 golf as he had avo coilovers and he blew 1, he sent it to avo and had refurbed and he said he thinks it was about £38 plus postage but this was good few years ago so price may well be different now.

one bad post on the internet does not mean that AVO is pants... you never got to see what conversations took place before the OP decided to do a hatchet job.. the dampers could have been covered in road salt & left unwashed, leaving other parts to rot out, and not the parts he wanted working on.. and a small company doing limited run stuff, most likely relying on certain parts from large OEM suppliers, will fall foul of suddenly having a parts supply drying up.. the part they used could have been from part way thru a production cycle & is simply not available..

if i was making adjustable dampers, i'd probably buy in cheap oem ones, & fit new valves in them..

my old spax ones had imperial threads FFS... apart from really early1300 oil filters, when was the last time gm used imperial threads???

and as for the bloke who stuck his oar in about them building dampers that were totally wrong for his special... he gave them the 'info', they built them, maybe, just maybe, his previous supplier told him some porkies to screw him up if he changed them??

Avo looked after my shocks when I damaged it. Cost a bit to get it done but when you think the kit is like £400 it's not bad really

That just looks like a get out of jail card to avoid them of any warranty responsibilitie . I once had a set of £1k bike forks that had seen a hard life, after 2 years an adjuster broke, I sent them back to rockshox.... Who sent me brand new forks from warranty

conad, its standard for a company to list their terms & conditions as well as service instructions.

i worked in a job where i had to inspect incoming warranty items.... the piss taking was incredible. i'd guess people try to stitch up a small suspension mfr every day of the week..

very true, its the people who try taking the piss by abusing the service that ruin for the people out there who are honest. mine are out of warranty anyway, i'd be paying, and its the service in general that seems to be the problem, items being returned in the same condition ect.

but if an item is sent to them in a condition that is not safe for them to repair to a 100% safe standard, or parts of it are seized or damaged, they will return it.

i still think there was history over those dampers long before the pistonheads hatchet job.

I've not got a clue about the history of them buddy, just what I've read on that thread. seen it on a few forums that things were returned and not worked on but still charged. I 100% agree with ya with the safety aspect, but its a bit naughty to return them with no explanation and still charge for work.

If they have to strip and inspect the parts to discover they are dangerously fecked then yes the customer should be charged. All sensible warranty departments do this.

Avo should see you right, but budget £50 per corner and shipping two ways...... Getting close to new Gaz money and they really do look after you well ime.
