sr's sri's and good 1.2s. May have to resort to finding a nice 1.0 and converting the engine, but don't really want the hassle

My old MK1 1.6T40 was for sale not long ago somwhere in the murky depths of Essex (It was up for double what I sold it for in worse condition btw...).
But I expect it's been ragged to death and it also's now developed a problem where the, and I quote
Seller "Passenger side driveshaft keep popping out"
Me "Well I put the 1.6 engine and box in there and fitted new oil seals and clips to them"
Seller "It's not a 1.6 box, it's a 1.3"
Me "No, it's deffo a 1.6 GTE one as I put it in..."
Seller "Well someone must of changed it..."
Me "Ahh ok" (Thinking, who changed it? the magic gearbox fairy?!!)

Nice car in it's time but now over priced and over driven I expect.

I realise this post is no help at all but thought I'd share it with you anyway!!!
