1.2 carb, engine runs when key is removed help

Hello,
Car starts fine and runs up to temp, but when I removed the key either of these two things happen -
Carrys on running without the key in the ignition OR
engine stops as it should but dash lights stay lit up?

Could this be the ignition switch that is connected to the barrel?

yes it could. There are no relays on the carb model, its powered directly from the switch.
