View Full Version : Tighten strut top
How do I tighten the front strut tops?
Old ones had a Allen key to hold stut in place, then just use a spark plug socket and a spanner
The new one has a flat instead of allan key hole

rattle gun,
or hold the flat with a spanner, shifter or molegrips. just dont chew it up.
Can't get in with a spanner mate I tried that, and I don't have a impact gun and I'm a few miles out of town to get access to one, I might have to take them off again to take them to work to tighten :(
Pikey meathod,
Get an old rubber floor mat or similar material, cut a strip about 2" wide and 6" long wrap it round the piston as high up as you can near the strut top then grip it with molegrips,
( or vice grips as some say )
Done propperly this will give you hold on the piston without marking it.
The proper spanner to use is a sawn neck ring key one and hold the flat as said earlier.
