View Full Version : New nova fuel tank problem
I bought a brand new nova fuel tank from a panel supplier. Turned up all good until I looked at where the fuel sender sits.
The hole for the sender is there but there's no holes to screw it into place.
Anyone else had this issue?
Sounds like a SPI tank, the sender twist in, no bolts
You got the right tank?
You have the twist in sender type tank,
Iirc there is about 5 nova tanks,
Damn it! I've just had it powder coated as well, lol!
Every thing else matches my old gsi tank, like I said the sender hole is in the same place (rear of the tank) just doesn't have the 6 captive nuts.
Can I fit an spi sender?

carb tanks have a twist in sender too, probably the same one the spi uses. Not sure what a GSI sender is like, but if its just a two pin connection like the other ones, then I don't see why you can't just use a twist in sender.
Duno the feed size on the carb/spi sender but this is the GTE/gsi one and iirc it's 12mm

That's the sender I have. Has anyone got a pic of an spi/ carb version?

Get the drill out and make it fit lol
the big problem with the gte/gsi/sri tank is that the whole fuel pickup/swirlpot setup is behind the sender hold & as the above pic shows, it is unique. just where did you buy it from in the 1st place??

So is it hard to find gsi tanks now?
I've got two in the shed, best hold onto my spare one then.
The sender as above is hard to find, well a working one anyway
The point I was trying to make was that an spi one may not have the capacity to deliver enough fuel to the pump
A bit like runing around for 10 mins and trying to breathe through a straw, your going to struggle for fuel.
Yeah I wouldn't want to run a gte /gsi sender in a spi tank
That would be fine as you know Edd,
Someone previously mentioned using the twist in type sender, IMO that wouldn't work.

Get a fuel cell - problem solved! :)
not really.....
gte tanks are available from panel suppliers, as long as you ask the right question... which is
'has the sender hole on the rear of it got 6 little holes round it??'
if the answer is yes, then it is a gte/gsi/sri type tank.
Owell, looks like ill be taking my old Gsi tank down to the powder coasters.
The new freshly powder coated tank will be up forsale soon.
