Getting tired of the same old speedline hate lol

Same on Facebook too, folk slagging Novas with speedlines,

So I guess to look at it another way, what's wrong with having a common wheel ?
The Ford boys don't seem to get bored of the same wheel lol

I don't see the problem really. They're a decent wheel, suit the car, and come in the right offset. Yes they're common but hey ho.

Probably find most of the hate is from people who like to fit 13x8" ET20 wheels to Novas. With 175 tyres on lol

conad

aahhhahaha, that would look pretty cool, even if I am dead against this flocking craze! how easy can it be removed?

bazil
03-05-13, 10:12 AM
A refurb should do it, they get blasted or acid dipped anyway,

There was a lad on here done his LET or XE rocker cover and spark plug cover in flock and it looks awesome, and different from the norm :)

Only my N/S/R rubs, I might add very slight camber YOOOO to clear the arch, then fit 135 tyres lol

Deep dish Revolution 5 spokes on an Ascona or Manta 400
Deep dish minilites on mk2 escorts
Escort coz worth wheels on a Sierra 3dr Cosworth

Iv had numerous sets of speedlines on quite a few different novas now, when I bought K95 it had they stinkin rfxs on it, they were off straight away for speedlines.

Although I'm a bit bored of them and opted for a set of Porsche D90's for my van

It's not that they look crap at all, i find that due to the skinner bumpers (or more the front) the wheels some times look a bit out of place cause of the size. I found that when trying mine on Sharon SR's Nova a few years ago.

mowgli
04-05-13, 08:38 PM
re flocking a set of wheels & then removing it.. the fronts would be self removing, at the very first decent bit of braking lol

re the stretched tyres.... i have an ambition to be walking thru town with 3 accomplices, all of us carrying rubber hammers, and, in unison, whacking the sidewalls of some over lowered shyte-heap and watch the drivers face as it falls to the floor.

Benn
04-05-13, 08:43 PM
Dont forget ^ alot of drift cars have stretch tyres (to a point) to get more tyre on the ground iirc.

bazil
04-05-13, 08:43 PM
Why would flock come of with braking mowgli?

mowgli
04-05-13, 08:46 PM
heat transfer thru the rim would hopefully burn the sodding stuff off... when i was a lad, flocking was what they used on plastic toy animals, and bits of train set scenery.. i've never liked it

the 'drift spec' nissan 200sx i followed today had massive stretched tyres on, and enough camber on it for about 50 people's cars... it had rained, we were on the A5 near hinckley & he was trying to drift it badly on the puddles... we could smell the unburnt fuel as we followed him. it was in perfect grey primer, apart from what appeared to be rear corner rub marks.. but they looked like someone had done them with a DA & not a concrete safety barrier

lol, yup,
The actual speedline cast ones ( not the Courtney or wheelbase ones ) are a pain in the ass, gotta run spacers on the front to clear 256 and 288 callipers,

Dont forget ^ alot of drift cars have stretch tyres (to a point) to get more tyre on the ground iirc.

Less sidewall flex, too. Combined with stiffer suspension, ime equals better skids. As the tyres and body roll aren't soaking up all the intertia when you flick the car sideways.

Can't go wrong with a set on cav slabs on a nova, look great and almost as if they came factory with the car. Just colour code the griffin badge to your car.......photo shop it or search under my username and you'll find a red gte with this look.

Alessios are the best wheel for a nova only down side is theiving scum in the uk nicking centre caps, I loved mine on all my cars, only went five stud to be more unique

We're in an era where non conformity is cool.

With the proliferation of shared imagery, those that don't spend exhaustive hours researching / adapting possibilities will be far more likely to get a backlash for doing something commonplace.

If I had to guess why the Ford boys don't get it as much, it's possibly down to fact some of the wheels handed up to the older generation are larger and of a better design.
