View Full Version : does the standard c16xe multi rib alternator setup clear a nova's chassis leg?

As above, I preffer the multi rib compared to the v belts but some say it clears and some say it doesnt

I have had two Nova's with C16XE's and not had a problem with either one.

just remember it it will be a bitch to change so i would fit a new belt at the same time

Ive read that it will rub on a mk1 and clear on a mk2 as the chassis legs on a mk2 are slightly wider.... could just be the shonky gm build qaulity though!

changing it for the standard V belt now. that engine must of had air con or power steering as its got some weird mount for it

the alternator and crank pulleys still align, you just need to measure the circumferance and buy a shorter belt.

considering that the shells are the same on a mk1 & a mk2, i doubt that its different

I had a issue when fitting the multi groove, this was down to having solid mounts which pulled my engine across more though.
For what it's worth it was a MK1.
